Whilst the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux are touring this country, you may be interested to know that the relics of her parents are currently on loan to the Sanctuaire Notre Dame de Montligeon, otherwise known as ‘the Cathedral of the Forest’, located in the hamlet of La Chapelle Montligeon, Orne, Normandy.
The parents of St Thérèse of Lisieux, Blessed Louis and Zelie Martin, were beatified in October 2008 and are in the process of being canonised.
As two of the trustees of the English charity, L’Oeuvre Expiatoire, Arnold Fooks Chadwick partners, Joff Bates and Tim O’Callaghan, have a close association with Sanctuaire Notre Dame de Montligeon. The third trustee, Pip Jukes, also runs the English Language Secretariat of Notre Dame de Montligeon from his offices in Alton, Hampshire with particular responsibility as Editor of the English version of the quarterly newsletter from the Shrine, Our Lady of Montligeon, which is printed and distributed by the Redemptorists. Under the Trustees’ guidance, L’Oeuvre Expiatoire has supported many of the charitable activities undertaken over the years by the Recteur of the Sanctuaire Notre Dame de Montligeon, Père Paul Preux.
